Plummeting

Plummeting from heaven
It soaks to the bone
Forbidding even a hint of light
Insanity precedes
Misery follows
Each earthbound bombshell landing
Accompanied by clouds
Come undrying floods
Memories of day dim to darkness
Drops turn into oceans
And hope disappears
At least the coldness is faithful
It’s pounding on rooftops
The dizzying madness
Drowns the sure world of yesterday
Splitting the shadow
A lone ray of sun
Brings unwelcome taunts of brilliance
From midnight comes dawn
Downpours retreat
But dampness never is lifted.
Although it is cold
Leave inconstant light
It mocks perpetual sorrow
