Trees Weeping

The Trees Were Weeping Early

Severity knows no burden too great,
Reaching out and stealing those that matter
It stole our summer before it began
And the trees wept.

Sadness invites no hope
Rummaging through times long past
Feelings emerge, only to bring more tears
A sea of emotions imprison those who will not fight.

Severity played it’s game
It stole someone that mattered,
Creating a hole in many hearts
Empty spaces filling with grief.

Towers of sorrow,
Trenches of remorse,
Visions of hopes now lost
Answers lingering out of reach.

Lives are small and precious,
Little parts in a larger existence
They are taken without question
And the trees continue to weep.
